Retinar receives a UNICEN's JOVIN Grant for R&D

Retinar is proud to announce that our project, titled “Towards an Intelligent Platform for Remote Diabetic Retinopathy Screening: Quality Control in Fundus Photography Using Autoencoders,” has been awarded a JOVIN grant of AR$ 100,000 (approximately U$D 1000) by UNICEN. This grant is part of the Program for Strengthening Science and Technology in National Universities, initiated by the Secretariat of Science, Art, and Technology at UNICEN.

In this initiative, we focus on developing a crucial module for Retinar, our AI-driven telemedicine platform dedicated to remote diabetic retinopathy screening. Our goal is to create advanced AI models capable of automatically detecting low-quality fundus photographs. By doing so, we aim to improve the efficiency of our platform by preventing the transmission of suboptimal scans. Additionally, our system will recommend technicians to re-acquire images before patients conclude their appointments.

We are excited about the recognition and support from UNICEN and look forward to how this project will significantly enhance our technological capabilities, benefiting both patients and healthcare professionals.
